Hey, guess what? I actually haven't forgotten about this blog--I was just waiting until something interesting happened so I could post about it.
Well, it did. I'm now employed! And so so so happy about it. Starting the end of August, I'll be working full time at a boarding kennel for cats and dogs. I've been volunteering their since end of June and it's been going well. I quite enjoy the work and the people there are very pleasent and friendly :D So it's all good!
On a different note, who else is totally going to go see Half Blood Prince?? *raises hand* We're meeting up with Jo on Friday, getting my brother back, and watching it. I've been rereading the book to prep myself. Even with all the changes I think I'm going to LOVE it. *happy sigh.*
I also read The Order of the Phoenix, erm, actually for the first time (shhh!). And it was kinda different from the movie in that Harry was even more annoying then normal. He was always getting emotional, shouting at his friends & teachers, I'm surprised they didn't all shun him. He was especially interested in telling people different variations of "MY parents were killed by VOLDEMART and yours WEREN'T so obviously I have had a very upseting childhood and should be handled carefully."
or something. Yeah, can you tell who's NOT my favorite character...?
Favorite characters so far: Hermione is definetly my fav. Ginny and Luna are also pretty awesome.
Btw I really AM going to read Atonement soon...got it in the mail the other day. So you'll be hearing from me hopefully soon about that! :)

A unfortunate sighting
Today something most unfortunate and unforseen occured. I was idly contemplating my purchases in our small-town drugstore, when I noticed something startling to my right. It would appear I was looking in a full length mirror, because in front of my very eyes was a coat identical to the one I was wearing---only someone else was wearing it.
I didn't stick around to find out who won the "showdown", as gossip magazines often call it when two celebrities wear the same outfit to an event (who accesorized it better? etc). I was a bit embarrased by how bothered I was. If it had been anything else, I wouldn't have minded so much. Other items of apparrel, such as a watch, shoes, scarf, even blouse, are much easier to 'customize' with your personality. When you notice someone wearing the same watch as you, for example, you may share a amused smile with the stranger. Not so with a coat. A coat is something you wear in all weathers, in all moods. This particular coat, a $69.99 navy blue trench coat from H&M, isn't something you can exactly change. Anything you wear underneath is immediatly covered. It stands alone. Sadly...

The Birds: p.2
I did some more thinking about The Birds.
If you've seen this movie, did it ever occur to you that Tippi Hedren, the actress who plays Melanie Daniels, looks REALLY familair?
The first time I saw it I kept thinking "boy, she looks like someone..." No sooner did I think that, then my Dad said "She looks like one of those Hilton sisters...you know, Paris." xD Yup. Kinda sad, really. And looking at some pictures of her in other films, she reminded me of Reese Witherspoon (not so unfortunate).
Nothing else to report...I'm hoping to read Atonement soon and shall post about that.

The Birds...
Yesterday I watched (not for the first time) Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.
SPOILERS-SPOILERS-SPOILERS-SPOILERS
I can't get over how frustrating the ending of the movie is. I like to think that the bird attacks cease. While Mitch, Melanie, Lydia, and Cathy are walking to the car the birds almost seem a bit docile.
I've read some places that maybe the attacks reprisent Lydia's anger toward Melanie. But that doesn't really make sense, if that were so surely the birds would leave everyone else alone?
The impression I had after watching it the first time was that the bird attacks stopped once Lydia (Mitch's mother), changed. If you'll remember there's a scene where she talks to Melanie. She says she wishes she could be stronger, a more brave person. In the end scene where Melanie is brutally ravaged by the birds in the upstairs bedroom, you see not only Mitch at the door trying to drag her body in but also Lydia. After that instance she seems changed.
I really really wish I knew what the whole point of it all was! My brother is convinced the whole thing is just "because"--that there's no real reason. But come on, it's HITCHCOCK. Even if there's not a concrete, logical explanation for the bird attacks, there must be some underlying theme that fits in with it all. I think I'll have to watch it several more times soon...I'm determined to crack this. :P
Also. I really don't want this blog to fall to the wayside like so many of my other failed attempts have. So comment away and hopefully that will keep me motivated! :)
